They paved Paradise and put up a parking lot.

First....let me complain a little.  With my PC I had to load my pictures in order from last to first on my blog.  I kept forgetting so would have to rearrange them once they were loaded.  Now, with my imac, I remembered to load them last to first, BUT they loaded first to last!!!  Still rearranging.

On to my blog.  We live by the actual Lincoln University.  In 1854, Reverend Dickey and his wife co-founded the Jehudi Ashman Institute to educate people of African descent.  The name of the college was changed to Lincoln University after President Lincoln's death to honor him for freeing the slaves after the Civil War.

I drive by this University every day.  I marvel at the trees that are there.  Some have got to be 200 years old.  They are breathtakingly beautiful in the fall.  I love to drive under them right after a rain.  The leaves have caught the rainfall and the water plops down on my windshield in huge droplets as the leaves of the trees become  too heavy to hold the water anymore.
The University is growing.  Student body has swelled to thousands, buildings are being built. (4 new ones have been          built since we have been here.)  The football stadium will be done for the fall football kick off.  I love waking up in the fall to the sounds of the marching band practicing.  The University now stretches from the old campus along Ashmun Rd (that I drive every day) and far to the west where the newer buildings are springing up.  All this has created a parking problem.  They ran out of room.
I drove up Ashmun Rd the other day and they were taking down those big, beautiful trees!!  Those mounds of sawdust are all that is left.
