I think I'll go swimming.

The middle of the country has been in sweltering heat for a week.  I guess I knew what was coming to the east coast.  It's here.  The highs are in the triple digits with oppressive humidity.  I don't know how they calculate the heat index....but it is 115!!!  It's pretty neat in the morning when you look outside and there is steam rising off the asphalt.  Sad that it is so hot so early.  You know it's going to get a lot worse.
So I went swimming with my grandkids in Virginia.
Here is Mr. Miles.  Yeah, he has his swim vest on now....but you should have seen him later when he decided he wanted to just swim.  He took off the vest and practiced by the side of the pool until he figured it out.  The kid is 4.
Good for you, Miles!!  (He is the one with his face in the water.)
Zoe is a fish.  The first thing she did was to show Nana how she could swim from one end of the pool to the other.  She swims better on the bottom of the pool, but would come up every now and then for air.  I guess when you teach yourself how to swim you just have to do what works best.
I had to wear sunglasses because my pasty, white skin was blinding!  Zoe told her friends that I was her Nana. "She is old."  I guess she had to explain to her frineds why I looked the way I did in my bathing suit.  (And all you got to see was this.  No way I was going to put the rest of the picture here.)
