Planes, shuttles and automobiles

The new year meant Charlie had to return to Pennsylvania and back to work.  He was scheduled to leave on January 2nd.  I dropped him off at the shuttle from St. George to Las Vegas at 10:00 and he was on his way.  There was a monster storm brewing on the east coast but the planes were still "on schedule" so no worries.  He called about 12:45 to tell me his flight had been cancelled and could I get him on the shuttle back home.  Done.  So excited because Chelsea was coming that evening and her Dad would be here afterall!!  Charlie rebooked his flight for Sunday morning.
When Chelsea arrived we finished up Christmas.
Munkie came too!  How cute is she?  She poses for pictures and even squints her eyes anticipating the flash!
We had 2 days of just hanging out with the 3 amigos.  Charlie finished up the shower and Chelsea and I pruned back all the trees in back that had been damaged by the snow earlier.
Chelsea left on Saturday and Charlie and I headed up to Cedar City for an early birthday with Erica.       Sunday morning we replayed Thursday and I dropped Charlie off at the shuttle.  New storms abrewing back east but he HAD TO GET BACK TO WORK!  He called later to say he would miss his connection because his flight from Vegas was delayed.  He would just rebook in Detroit and sleep in the airport.  Once he got to Detroit they had already rebooked him on a 9 :45 flight for Monday night.  He went to the Delta gate and got on a standby flight for 3:00 instead.  He found a quiet, semi-warm place with his Delta blanket and tried to sleep.
Monday morning he kept at it and got his standby changed to a hard ticket!  Happy!  Just before boarding the flight, the flight had to be cancelled because there was a crew but no pilot!!  He was then put on standby for the 9:45 flight so he booked a flight that would take him to Atlanta and then on to Harrisburg.  He reserved a car in Harrisburg as well as a hotel room.  Of course that flight was delayed and then cancelled!  He spent another night on the floor in the Detroit airport.
Tuesday morning he caught the first available flight out of Detroit to Atlanta.  The flight was delayed but DID make it.  The flight from Atlanta to Harrisburg was also delyed but at least it took off and landed in Harrisburg.  He went and retrieved the rental car he had scheduled and drove the last 2 hours into Lock Haven.  He got home by 9:00 that night; 59 hours after he left on Sunday!!!! Poor baby.  I think this will make retirement all that more enticing to him now.  Just 2 more weeks!!! (So they say.)
