The great thing about being retired is that any given day or hour we can say, "Let's go somewhere," and then we go. I had been wanting to find the ghost town of Grafton, so we got in the truck and headed out. Grafton is by Rockville, Utah at the mouth of Zion's National Park. Brigham Young sent some members there to settle the area and to grow cotton. They were doing pretty good until the Indians killed a family. Everybody up and moved into Rockville while the men continued to farm the area. Grafton was hit and miss until the last family moved out for good in 1945. Some of the structures have been preserved and more will be when the money comes in. (We donated a couple of bucks on our way out.)
The cool thing about Grafton is that it was used to film "The Electric Horseman" and "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." Now that I've been there, I want to see "Butch Cassidy..." again. I guess Robert Redfern liked the area.
