Are you sure you want to change your phone number?

After living in Utah for going on 3 years, I thought it was time to change my phone number from a Pennsylvania exchange.  I went online to Verizon and even got to pick the number I wanted from a list of available numbers!  So exciting!  I picked the one that would be easiest for me to remember.  I texted and messaged out to everyone I loved what my new number was....and waited.
I immedieately started get a lot (A LOT) of texts and calls for ???? (I will protect her privacy.)  I got a call from the high school telling me about her son ????? who missed his last class.  I got a text from her cousin, with a picture, showing the results of him wiping out on his motorcycle. Gross. I had the woman's name and that of her son and cousin so I hit up Facebook and found her.  What should I do?
I messaged her to let her know she was getting LOTS of calls and texts at her old number and would she kindly let her large circle of peeps know.  She messaged me back and thanked me but.....she is so busy!  She is a mother of eight, an adjunct professor of phlebotomy at Dixie State, and very active in her church. (LDS I know because of all the calls I got from her visiting teachers and Relief Society presidency.  Really?  You didn't delete my number the first or second or third time I told you her number was not this one?!?)
The rest of the story:
I was amazed at how many people asked me if I knew what ????'s  new number was!  I didn't even KNOW this person.  Why would I know her new number?
I learned so much about ???? that I really had no business knowing.  From the pictures on her facebook page, she indeed has 8 children.  Three of them look like her.  The other 5 (who look like they could be as old as she is) look very much like her hispanic husband.  I will go out on a limb here and guess this is her second marriage.
Adjunct professor of phlebotomy means she took an 8 hour class (Charlie told me this) and worked as a phlebotomist (bloodsucker or one who draws blood) so can now teach said phlebotomy to others in a college setting.  It sounds really impressive though, right?
The calls I got from California and Iowa turned out to be from debt collectors.  After ignoring these calls, that I knew had to be for ????, I started answering them to let them know I was not who they were looking for.  They were both very free with who they were (debt collectors) and promised to remove my number from her profile. (And these are the only calls I actually answered!)
Today I got a message on my phone (because I was in the shower when it rang) from Lava Ridge Intermediate School here in St. George.  It was Mike, one of the counselors, explaining to ???? why ??????? had a chipped tooth.  Seems that during a flag football game, he tackled the kid because 'the flag didn't come off' and they pushed each other a bit and when they fell to the ground ?????? chipped his tooth when he hit the other kid's head.  Really?  You needed to put this all in a message?  Mike then said he didn't even know if this was ????'s number so would e-mail her too.  Mike should be counselled on privacy.
Wow.   I feel so much better.  Charlie tells me to just get a new number.  What?  And miss out on an awesome blog?
