It's Just Not Right

So last year I went to the doc and had a wart removed from my hand. It was quick and painless. The bill was $58.00. I am SO worth it.

Yesterday I took Ping in for his yearly check. He had been licking his back paw because of a nail that had split. (Those of you with dogs know that this is usually pretty disgusting and

ugly.) The nail bed was still healthy so keep it clean, put this ointment on it, and keep him from licking it. The bill....$118.00!!! Almost double what I paid for my wart! And his nail bed is healthy!!! It's just not right.

But then, again, I didn't get a dystemper shot, or a lyme disease shot, or a groovy collar to wear around my neck. (I promised the doctor I wouldn't lick my hand.)

See, this is why I am dragging my feet about getting a dog. My kids want a Bernese Mountain Dog. Google it. I'm scared of it's food bill too. And it only lives 7 years typically. They cost about $1000 and I told them if they saved and paid for half, I would pay for the other half. As of today they have $83, so I figure I still have five more years to save up for the vet bills. Do they have pet health insurance? :)

Pray that they change their minds in 5 years. Yes, there is pet insurance but....it's a DOG. I'd be more worried about the food bill! Dog food isn't cheap when you get the healthy stuff. If you don't and the dog eats table scraps then the teeth go to pot and you have to have the teeth cleaned under anesthesia. I won't scare you with the cost of that one. Why is it that I don't really like dogs (or taking care of them or cleaning up after them or vacuuming all that dog hair daily) and I have two! Ping is Charlie's and Toto is Chelsea's. I guess I do it because I love Charlie and Chelsea!
