It started snowing yesterday morning at 4 am. Don't you love it? They predicted 5 to 10 inches at first. They changed that to 12 to 18 by noon. When the sun went down at 5 pm we had 21 inches. They (Who are these "they" I keep talking about? Those weather guys on the tv.) gave us a final tally this morning at 22.9 inches in downtown Philly. It is a record December storm. Winter comes tomorrow. Can't wait. It was hard to get a final tally out here because of the wind and drifting snows. My best guess is 22 inches to the 4 foot drift in the driveway. Charlie has definitely had a lot of time behind the snow blower.
Chelsea is here for Christmas, so this makes it twice as much fun. We were looking forward to Sunday and the 2 football games. The Vikings (Chelsea's main team) are playing the Panthers and the Eagles (GOOOO Eagles) are playing the 49ers (Brent's team.) It would be a perfect Sunday. It could only be more perfect if they call off church. Oh, Wait! They just called off church! Perfect.

The dogs don't know what to do, if you know what I mean. Charlie and I went out and cleared a path for them. Their dog door was even totally covered with snow and they couldn't get out. The snow just outside the deck is slowly turning an amazing shade of yellow.
The hospital had to go into Snow-Mode. The nurses that could not get into work had to be rescued by those with 4-wheel drive. Charlie went yesterday morning first thing and picked up a nurse midwife whose patient was in labor. I went with him later up to Coatesville (30 miles) to pick up another nurse. The nurses were asked to pack a bag and stay at the hospital for a couple of days until we are dug out. The highways are always the first. Us rural folks have to wait our turn. It felt like we were in Utah again. Gorgeous powder everywhere! This is turning into a perfect Christmas!!!!!

You are so lucky! I miss that kind of snow, and to have Chelsea there with you to enjoy it -- nothing much better than that. I miss the snow. We had snow in Houston two weeks ago, which is crazy in itself. South Houston got about 4 inches which is unheard of. Merry Christmas!!!
You are ALMOST making me miss snow. Yesterday, Christmas day, we rode our bikes across the gravelly trails to the park - in sweatshirts. Sarah had a skirt on. Someday, someday I will think living in snow is fun again. But it is beautiful and how great to have an extra snowshoveler around. :-)
