This is our little Ping. Charlie got him for his 50th birthday while living in Moab. Charlie's Chief Nursing Officer, Nancy Chartier, thought he needed a dog. I wasn't happy about it. It took me 12 years to be happy about it.
We had to put Toto down in April. (see earlier blog.) The very next week, Ping was diagnosed with Diabetes. For the past 3 and a half months, I have been giving Ping 2 insulin shots a day. He still got progressively worse. He kept drinking way too much water. He stopped being a good eater. He couldn't hold his pee anymore. He developed cataracts and started going blind. He seemed to be afraid to do anything. He followed me around so close to my feet that I was tripping on him. He couldn't make it up the stairs last night without help. He quit barking. (Probably because of the pain it caused in his eyes.) So, today was hard. His life was winding down and he wanted to go see Toto.

So sad. I'm so sorry that he had to go so soon. Is was such a cute little guy.
That is never easy. :( At least he will have a friend to welcome him in doggy heaven.
Oh, that is sad. Miki, our dog, is only 2 but already I'm seeing a sad goodbye at some point. We loved meeting Ping in Moab and seeing him do all his tricks with Chelsea.
We're glad we got to know Ping a little when we visited you in May. I'm sorry you had to say goodbye to him so soon after Todo left this earth life.
