Amazing that the tree snapped and twisted as it fell away from the house. They must have been praying inside. There was another tree that fell on this same farm 2 years ago. It stayed in the same place that two years as the owner whacked at it every now and then to get firewood. It took two years, but it is finally gone. Looks like he has his firewood for this year. And it is so conveniently near the house.

Divine providence or luck?
As the world heard, there was a hurricane here last week. The Jersey Shore was all but wiped out. It snowed there last night. Double whammy. We were very lucky. Minor flooding in the basement taken care of by the sump pump. Our power didn't even go out. Just a whole lot of horizontal rain and wind. There are stories everywhere of trees coming down. Yea. That happens in the wind with 200 year old trees when the ground is saturated beyond damp. On venturing out after all was over, there were tree people everywhere with chain saws clearing roads and houses. There was a huge tree up the road from us that literally snapped, twisted and ended up on the ground. The tree happened to be in the yard of one of our Amish neighbors.
