Symbols of Christmas

Everyone (mostly) has heard the story about Santa Claus coming down the chimney and teaching the children the true meaning of Christmas.  Red ornaments for the blood of Christ, evergreen tree for needles pointing up to heaven and always green, star on the tree for the (duh) new star, gifts for the three wisemen bringing gifts, lights for the light of Christ, etc.  In our home we had a flannel board story where the kids would decorate the little flannel tree with the symbols of Christmas as I read the story.
Today in Primary Sharing Time, the kids discovered the true meaning of the symbols of Christmas as they read about them in the scriptures.....and then decorated the tree.  Brother Rowley, brand new Sunbeam teacher, was the tree in Junior.  Brother Bacon stood for the tree in Senior.  I loved it!!  So much better than a flannel board.
