Chelsea flew home in March. I went back to LA with her to spend her birthday with her and my sister, Karen, who's birthday was the day before Chelsea's. I had to see where my baby was living. Pretty nice, huh? I am going to have a palm tree in my front yard someday. She takes care of "Monkey", a jack russel and chiuaua mix. She is so adorable! Our next dog has got to be this cute.
This is where she writes and records her music. I am SO totally blown away with the technology. She has a little soundboard right there with her computer and microphone. The instruments are all in the computer or sampled. After the song is written, recorded, and approved, she goes into the recording studio to lay down the tracks.
Karen, Chelsea and I drove to the Santa Monica pier; walked up the beach on the warm sand; had lunch on the pier; and took pictures.
So, why Santa Monica? To retrace the steps our parents took as they were both going to UCLA back in the 40's. We started at Griffith's Park where they met. My Dad lived on Pacific St. a block from the beach. The apartment is gone, but the palm tree is there along with a massive construction job going on building new apartments.
A few blocks away from his 'apartment' we found the house that his family lived in right after Pearl Harbor. His Dad was a police officer at the Douglas Aircraft company where my Dad and his brothers worked. My Grandpa was a master marksman who won all the competitions he entered. He became friends with Gary Cooper and taught him how to shoot.
Seriously! Isn't she cute!?
That night, Jeff took us out to dinner. (Karen, their boys, Skylar and Hunter, and me and Chelsea.) Home for presents and birthday pie.
Next day, Jeremy and Corinne Baird (niece) and their 7 kids came by on their way from Newport Beach to Vegas. I just laugh when I think how happy I am to have such a fun family that just keeps going and going!!
Okay, this is only Jeremy with 4 of his daughters and Karen. The others were somewhere, I'm sure!
Next stop....Provo.
