Delta, I will never believe you again. I went on line to check in the day before my flight. There were no empty seats any closer than I was, but I could upgrade to a window seat next to my middle seat for $20. I decided to save the $20. I can sit in the middle for 2 hours to Minneapolis for an hour layover to SLC. I guess nobody likes to go to Minneapolis, because I had the whole row to myself!! And to think I just about gave Delta $20 for a window seat!! We even got there early, so I had an hour and a half to enjoy the Minneapolis airport. Clean! Shopping mall in the middle! I am so flying through Minneapolis next time.
The flight to SLC was full! It always is. Everyone loves Salt Lake! When my sister, Karen, picked me up I was starving! 4:30, but 6:30 my time. She took me directly to the In-an-Out Burger in American Fork. We were surrounded by white shirts and ties! Oh yeah. General Priesthood Meeting starts at 6. So I guess the ice cream places at 8:00 are definitely out of the question. I'm glad the mothers and wives weren't there to grimace as all these white shirts were surrounded by greasy burgers and tons of ketchup.
This trip was to stay with my Dad for a week with Karen. It was a bonus that my son, Brent was picking up their new car so stayed Saturday night with Grandpa. Double bonus that he brought Erica with him!! Just realized I didn't get a picture of Brent. He looks the same. (See previous blog pictures.)
Sunday was a wonderful conference! Favorite talk, Elder Holland. "Did you love me?" (Note to self. Read it again.) And during President Monson's talk on focusing on your blessings to find happiness, Chelsea called!! She had her wallet stolen at work but was focusing on her blessings and moving on. Obviously I told her about President's Monson's talk.
So what do doughnuts have to do with conference? I was craving them all day!! Krispy Kreme was our first stop Monday morning. We had to do the Walmart thing to get the things we needed to redo the pantry shelves. Krispy Kreme was on the way. (Which is why we went to Walmart and not to a closer store.) Monday was to tear apart the old, ugly, out-of-date, chocolate brown shelves with bright orange and yellow flowers. 4 of the 5 shelves came out , not easily, but came out. The fifth? I remember saying..."By now, Charlie would have taken a hammer to it." So I did. It came out. There will only be 4 shelves to cover now. Karen and I cleaned up the walls and , painted the pantry, and covered the antenna outlet with a cover plate. (I don't think the wires will ever be used again. Can you say digital?) And on Tuesday morning we put it all together. VOILA!!
Tuesday was spent deep cleaning the kitchen and plant room. Floors and walls scrubbed, china closet cleaned out and all crystal washed, and finding more things to take to DI's. Diane came over at lunch and brought the makings for tacos. There was plenty left over for dinner, but Karen and I felt like Zapas for soup. On the way home from DI's and a little shopping we stopped and got our soup. Yum.
Thursday, Yvonne took Dad, Diane and Karen to lunch at Cafe Rio. (It is a standing date with Yvonne and Dad every Thursday for his tamales there.) I heard that nephews Jaren and Danny showed up. Danny had a friend (of the female persuasion and it seems serious) with him. I went to lunch with the PHS girls. (See previous blog.)
I lead footed it back to BYU after lunch to meet with Nick and Ellen. Jamba Juice was on the menu. Ellen runs track for BYU so it had to be healthy. Nick had to run off to class so I got to spend some quality time with Miss Ellen. I so love her! I drove her down to the Fieldhouse where she was keeping an appointment with her trainer. It was so much fun to be back on BYU campus after (dare I say it?) 37 years!!
On my way back up to Dad's I saw the Google car!! Now I know how they do it. See the 360 degree camera strapped to the top? So fun! (The car with the green door.)
The week went by too quickly! Way too quickly! I happened to check my e-mail Thursday night to discover it was time to check in! But I am not flying home until Saturday!!! Wrong. I am flying home Friday. Bummer. Glad I checked my e-mail.
So goodby, Utah, once again. Glad I got to see Mother's bushes in the back changing to their brilliant red color before I left!

Looks like you had such a fabulous, eventful, family week in Provo! That's fun that you got to see friends from home too. Nancy never forgets a face...and she's good at analyzing Facebook :) Visits are always so fun! Love you Nancy!
