Father's Day 2014. Good riddance.

My little brother turned 60 on June 10th. Debbie gave him a surprise party on Saturday, the 14th, Father's Day weekend.  I went up to it alone.
And this is why I was alone on Father's Day. Charlie bought 4 tickets to the US Open last year when we were still living in Pennsylvania. He had no idea we would be moving then. Matt was still in Virginia and Andy lived near Pinehurst where the Open was to be played. All we would have to do is fly Brent out. Done deal. Then we moved and Matt and Stephanie moved. But Andy still lived by Pinehurst and you can't waste tickets! Why do they play the US Open on Father's Day weekend?
Thanks to Karen and Jeff, I had a really nice place to stay in Alpine.  I thought it would be spooky being here all alone. It wasn't. I could totally get used to this.
Had a great night's sleep in this little house.
Sunday morning I found a church and went to Sacrament meeting alone and listened to strangers talk about their fathers.  After the meeting I headed up to the homestead on Mojave.
Last picture of me in the house. You can't look in those mirrors and NOT see Dad putting them up. He did this the first year we were there. (No, there are not two toilets.) How many hours did we girls stare into those mirrors putting on make-up? How many loads of laundry were done in here by all of us after we got married and brought our wash up here  to avoid laundro-mats? How many of our children did the same while at college?
3188 Mojave Lane and Mom's roses.
Looking pretty empty and feeling the same!
Had to get out of there, so headed downtown and walked around.
Last stop. Probably the last time we can cut Mom's roses and bring them to the graves. At least next year the gravestone will be done and back where it belongs. Happy Father's Day Daddy!
