Catching up because it's August already!

Brad sent out a picture of the headstone now in place. Dad would always look at the headstone after Mom was buried and wonder what the death date would be under his name. I guess we know now.
Chelsea sent me this picture on July 4th of her and Munkie.
I don't remember who did this caricature of Dad, but I am pretty sure it was somebody in the Edgemont 8th ward back in the Fonzie era of Happy Days.
Little bit by little bit we are making this house just like we want it. After scraping around some Pier 1 bar stools that fell apart, we decided to order some hanging bar stools. Charlie did the construction, adding the foot pole and the step. We ordered the tile we wanted without looking at the price. Woops.
It was so worth it. We love it. (And Charlie did the always perfect job. Am I lucky or what?)
Our neighbors in the back have this beautiful 20 foot palm tree that hangs over our yard. The record cold pretty much did a number on the palm trees. As the palm leaves die, they hang on for dear life until the wind shakes them loose. I woke up one morning and this was in my back yard. It looks much smaller when it's up in the tree!
Matt and Steph came out to Utah for July 4th and left Zoe in Utah. She spent 2 weeks in Salt Lake with Johnson families and then came down south to see the Davis side. She stayed with Brent's family in Cedar City a few days and then I brought the 2 girls for a week at Nana's house. First order of business was new legos to play on the lego table I will get around to painting one of these days. (This is the table my parents bought back in 1948. It was the birthday cake table and all nine of us put teeth marks on the edges.)
First stop the next day was the Dinosaur Museum. Some builder ran into a plethora of dinosaur footprints back in 2000. He stopped building and preserved the sight. There are impressions of not only footprints, but texture of skin too. Fascinating. They are still unearthing fossils and prints. Pretty cool. Zoe was in heaven and astounded the workers with her pronunciation and knowledge of dinosaurs. (Proud.)

In the kid's room we each made an origami pterydactyl.
After lunch at McDonald's I took the girls over to the splash pad and downtown streambed. There are little fountains, etc. back there where all the people are. I obviously watched from the shade. (103* you know.)
Bought them matching dinosaur T-shirts that have glow in the dark dinosuars on them! This was either ice cream before bed or the next morning at breakfast. They liked our new bar stools.
We spent 4 hours in the Children's Museum. Each room on 2 floors have a different place to pretend. Obviously a garage. This place was so fun!
Grocery store
The princess in the castle tower.
The dragon who chased all the princesses up in the tower.
Day 2 of the Museum. Yes, it was that much fun!! We didn't go until 3:00 so they would kick us out at 6:00 at closing. I don't think I could have handled another 4 hours sitting on a park bench. 3 hours was pushing it. The girls could have stayed there forever!!
Besides the above and this tree house, there was a farm, a science laboratory, a sports court, a desert mine , and a theater. In the theater, you could put on the song you wanted and perform on the stage. I think I heard "Let It Go" a hundred times!!!

Somewhere in those days we went shopping for school clothes. We watched a couple of movies, and the girls played the Wii. I went to bed totally exhausted each night!  Old ladies should not have children.  We took Erica home on Friday. Next blog...Zoe's, Grandpa's and Nana's weekend.
