Stephanie got an idea for her backyard. It's gonna need a little help from her dad, so...... We left after church on Mother's Day and drove as far as Grand Junction. We headed out Monday morning and drove through snow!!! Granted we were pretty far up there in the Rockies, but hey! SNOW?! We stopped at a little place in Dillon to get out of the snow and to eat lunch. (More lunch than out of the snow.) What a cool place! It is the "Red Mountain Grill" if you are ever up there. We will remember this place. And yes, the food was as good as the decor.
We got into Castle Rock and headed to Steph's to get started on the wall. She had already ordered 2 pallets of hold-a-hill. Charlie went right to work in the back with Stephanie, and I pulled weeds. (It's what I do best.)For the next 3 days we built the wall, moved a lot of dirt and rock, fixed the sprinkling system, had a mini birthday dinner for Zoe, Grandpa, and Miles (Zoe chose dinner and had Matt stop at Chik-fil-a on his way home from work Monday), watched Zoe's dance because we will miss the recital, watched movies, swam in the hotel pool, and just had a great time.
We will probably not stay at the Day's Inn again. The maids come by at 8:00 in the morning to gather up the linen! I showed them the second day. I threw the soiled towels out in the hall. While trying to swim in the pool, there was a teacher there holding swim classes!! Really!? She kept asking Miles and Zoe to get out of the way.
We stopped at an overlook by the San Rafael Swell once we got past Green River in Utah. Whoa! Next time we are stopping again at the other scenic overlooks that we keep zipping by and have never stopped to see since using this road back to 1978. Great trip, but were glad to be warm again in the 90 degree weather.
