Eight little dresses

In my family their are 8 girls and one boy.  On a prominent wall in my parent's home are nine photos of all the girls in their wedding dresses.  (Debbie looked better in the wedding dress than Brad.)
I flew out to Utah the first week of December to help my Dad start going through my Mom's things.

There are 2 cedar chests in the storage room downstairs built by my dad back in the forties;  one for his mother and one for his wife.  Once the closets were pretty well cleaned out, we tackled those cedar chests.  Mom kept them locked.  The lock was a little sticky, but Dad managed to get them open.

It looked like Mom had started sorting things.  There were 3 bags with names on them.  Those things were easy to figure out who they go to.  It was also very easy to decipher which clothes had belonged to Brad.  Lucky Brad.  He never wore any hand-me-downs.
After sifting through both chests and making pile after pile of children's clothes, formals, and bridesmaid dresses, I discovered that there were 8 little white blessing dresses.  I had no idea that Mom had made a different little dress for each of us.  We were definitely a family of hand-me-downs.  As different sisters found out my discovery, they were all equally surprised that we each had our own little dress.
If Mom were still here she could tell us whose was whose.  To me it doesn't really matter.
I love you Mom.

How special! I am so jealous of the talent you and Grandma have in sewing. And THANK you for doing all of that sorting/organizing/cleaning. I picked it all up on Saturday!
