Kitchen Kettle Village

This place is another reason I love living here.  The Village is located in Intercourse, PA.  (So blogged about it earlier.)  I am letting one of my former Laurels drive my car around so she can get her hours of driving in to get her license.  I made her drive me to Kitchen Kettle Village to pick up some treats for Charlie's home teaching families.  She got in 3 hours of driving because she lives in Perryville, MD about an hours drive south of Intercourse.  The first place to go is here.

You need to come here hungry.  They make all their jams and relishes as well as cookies, sticky buns, shoo-fly pies, and other delectables right here.  During the peak tourist times, the Amish women are on display cooking up and bottling all kinds of things.  You don't have to worry about the taste of anything before you buy because you can sample everything!

My total 'take me back in time' find this year was ribbon candy!!  I haven't seen this stuff since I lived in Missouri back in the 60's.

I love coming here at Christmas.  No crowds. (Unless you count these guys.)

There is a little hut set up at the entrance to the Villlage.  A lady is there every time I come selling the clothespin dolls that she and her husband make.  They are always so cute but a little expensive.  What the heck.  It's Christmas!

I don't think this will be my last trip to the Village this Christmas.  There will be carolers and Santa Claus there this week.  Besides, I forgot to buy some fudge at the fudge shop.  (And then there is the music box store and ornaments!)

I've never taken the Amish buggy ride.  Maybe this week.  And then there is the candle barn, the homemade pretzels, the quilt museum, the leather shops, etc.  Yes, I love living here.
