You need to come here hungry. They make all their jams and relishes as well as cookies, sticky buns, shoo-fly pies, and other delectables right here. During the peak tourist times, the Amish women are on display cooking up and bottling all kinds of things. You don't have to worry about the taste of anything before you buy because you can sample everything!
My total 'take me back in time' find this year was ribbon candy!! I haven't seen this stuff since I lived in Missouri back in the 60's.
I love coming here at Christmas. No crowds. (Unless you count these guys.)
I don't think this will be my last trip to the Village this Christmas. There will be carolers and Santa Claus there this week. Besides, I forgot to buy some fudge at the fudge shop. (And then there is the music box store and ornaments!)
I've never taken the Amish buggy ride. Maybe this week. And then there is the candle barn, the homemade pretzels, the quilt museum, the leather shops, etc. Yes, I love living here.
