I should be in Utah right now. Charlie and I were flying out yesterday. This is where I spent Sunday and Monday. Two years ago in August, I was operated on for kidney stones. I guess there were a plethora in there and the doctor did all he could to extricate them. Follow up x-rays showed a couple of little ones left behind. Not to worry, we will watch them. 2 years and 3 x-rays later they decided to spring the kidney and try to come out themselves. I saw the doc last Thursday after a CT scan. He told me they were a bit bigger than would be able to be passed. (5 and 7 mm) I assured him I could do it becasue I had to be in Virginia on Saturday and I was flying to Utah the next Thursday. He loaded me up with percocet and said, "You really need these out tomorrow, but if you are determined to pass them, well, good luck. Call me if you need me." Friday and Saturday I drank a swimming pool! I also peed a swimming pool, but no stones. Sunday morning we called the doc. I was admitted to the hospital that night and given some welcome relief thru the IV. Monday we had surgery....again. Same surgery as last time but this time with lithotrypsy because of the size of the second stone. Doc couldn't even get it out with his snatch and grab tool. Stent put in to allow healing. So....I am being so good to take my meds and stay in bed. I missed Stephanie's dance revue on Saturday and we did not make our flight yesterday.
The hospital stay was very nice. The CEO even visited me a number of times personally!
The stent will be removed Monday and we will fly out that next Thursday. Delta was so nice to change our flight. We didn't even have to pay the change fee of $150 a ticket because I was able to give them the hospital where I was admitted. Just a little bump (stone) in the road before our trip.
Let this be a warning to all. Calcium supplements cause kidney stones!!! Get your calcium through your milk, ice cream, cottage cheese, cheese, etc. Tastes better that way anyway.
